RACE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We have a fantastic opportunity to make thousands of $$$ working a concession stand at the Daytona Races. The Deltona Arts & Historical Center is looking for 25 Volunteers for the weekend of January 26, 27 and 28 at The Daytona International Speedway working a busy concession stand.

See the RACES from a unique vantage point!

Must be 18 years old with a driver’s license.

This is an important fundraiser for the Arts Center!

Additional Races include BUSCH, DAYTONA 500 and BIKEWEEK.

This is the schedule:

January 26 – 7am – 6pm

January 27 – 7am – 6/7pm & 6/7pm – 7am

January 28 – 7am – 1:00pm (ish)

Feb 9 – TBA

Feb 10 – 7am – 6pm

Feb 11 – 7am – 6pm

Feb 15 – 7am – 6pm

Feb 16 – 7am - 6pm

Feb 17 – 7am – 6pm

Feb 18 – 6am – the end?

March 2 through 11th (10 days, includes 2 weekends)

The Arts Center really needs to make this fundraiser a very big success.

The only way to do it is to have your BODIES there and working as many shifts as you can.

KIDS & TEENS ART CLASSES:

January 9, 2007 – Kids Learning Art (starting 5 years old) 3:30 – 5:30, 6 week session Cost: $48 members / $54 non-members

January 9, 2007 – Teens Art Class (Middle & High School) 5:45 – 7:45, 6 week session. Cost: $48 members / $54 non-members

Classes taught by Mrs. Kathy Steinis, back by popular demand, accomplished artist & teacher. Art is displayed in Center with reception. Materials included

Adult Drawing Class at Deltona Arts & Historical Center

Gary Thomas’ six week course will take a NON-ARTIST thru the required steps to create their first piece of finished art, home work will be required.

Instructor: GARY THOMAS

Fifty years of drawing, painting, wood craving and a diverse art career including many forms of creativity. Gary has worked as a commercial artist, visual merchandiser, muralist, logo designer, mechanical draftsman, structural steel detailer and designer, construction retrofit designer and shop drawing specialist for his own companies and major corporations.

Start Date: Thursday 18th for six weeks

Time: 6pm – 7:30pm

Tuition: $48.50

Place: 682 Deltona Blvd, 32725 / Deltona Arts & Historical Center

Course includes:

1. Establishing your drawing theme

2. Finding reference materials

3. Basic drawing Composition

4. Layout

5. Determining best art media for your composition; oil, tempera, water color pastel stained glass & etc.

6. Color selection

Required Art Supplies:

1. One sketch pad (100 sheet) 11"x14" lightweight paper with a medium tooth i.e. Bienfang #601 or equal

2. One 12" clear plastic ruler

3. One 45 degree 8"x8" clear plastic

4. One color computer wheel by Grumbacher

5. One glue stick

6. One pair scissors

7. Three 2/HB soft lead pencils

8. One pencil sharpener

Stars in his own PBS television program, Painting With Morris.

Tuition: $75 fee includes all supplies.

(50% deposit to DA&HC upon registration)

BOARD MEMBERS: We have a wonderful board of directors who give of their time and talents. There are SO many programs and projects including plans for a new building, that we have decided to increase the board to allow other Deltona residents who care about our Arts and History to participate in a meaningful way. Our board meets for ONE hour on the first Wednesday of the month. If you are interested in joining our board please contact us.
